The “Current Odds” Problem — Why Most Claims Are Misleading

  • If 30 of those prizes have been claimed, approximately 1,500,000 tickets have been sold (30 × 50,000)
  • Therefore approximately 3,500,000 tickets remain

We cross-validate this estimate across multiple prize tiers — if the top prize tier and mid-tier prizes both imply the same total tickets printed, we have high confidence in the number. This is the only mathematically sound approach when total tickets sold isn’t published.
